While watching HDR content, the Quantum HDR 24X outputs a spectrum of vivid colors and dynamic contrast making the content come alive. Even during broad daylight, the image quality is brilliant due to the Quantum Matrix with mini-LED technology.

I could feel the movie with greater depth and dimension, which created a lifelike experience. This is due to the Real Depth Enhancer that increases the foreground contrast. When I switched on the EyeComfort Mode, I felt the display adjust to the outside brightness.

Sound Capabilities

The TV has a built-in 2.2.2-channel speaker that supports Dolby Atmos for immersive audio. This in-built speaker is paired with Samsung’s AI-based Object Tracking Sound System for sound effects that follow every action on the screen. 9. Class S95B Samsung OLED 4K Smart TV

The S95B is one of the best models in the OLED TV variants that combines the self-emissive properties of OLED with the brightness and color range of QLED. Its picture quality is the main reason for all the enthusiasm around this model. Even though the price is not low, it is affordable for the technology and features it brings. It is available in 55, 65, and 75-inch screen sizes.

Display Capabilities

The main technology that offers this stunning image quality is the AI-powered Neural Quantum Processor and the Quantum Dot OLED Screen. There is a sharp difference in this OLED technology, which does not involve white in its color processing. The color and brightness were better than the other OLED TVs.

The HDR movies suddenly looked brighter, and the local contrast was awesome. The same movie felt better with vibrant colors and depth than other OLED TVs. The images look more real and convincing.

It upscales all the content to 4K resolution and supports HDR10 format, HLG format, and HDR10+ format. But it does not support the Dolby Vision HDR format for some reason.

Sound Capabilities

The TV has a built-in 2.2.2-channel channel speaker. The OTS system works very well in the S95B OLED model. I could feel the audio around me rather than behind the screen.

But as the action sequences started, the cinematic impact was lost. The absence of Bass was evident during the loud moments on the screen, but the music, dialogue, and sound effects sound crisp.

Gaming Capabilities

Of all the features in this model, the best is the Gaming experience. It supports all major technologies in today’s gaming consoles, like FreeSync Premium Support, Variable Refresh Rate (VRR), Suto Low Latency mode (ALLM), and more. The only drawback I found while plugging in my Xbox Series X is that it does not support Dolby Vision.

Smart Features

The TV comes with a revamped Tizen Smart TV Interface, which is very exhaustive and creates clutter. The Home Screen takes the whole page, displaying curated content.

It supports Amazon Alexa, Bixby, Google Assistant, and Apple AirPlay 2. It comes with a SolarCell Remote with very minimal buttons.

Sound Capabilities

The TV deploys 4.2.2-channel speakers with 8 substantial mid/bass drivers across the rear. The OTS+ System makes sound lifelike and comes from specific objects. The sound capabilities of S95C are better compared to S95B, but there is still scope for improvement.

You can add a Dolby Atmos Soundbar to step up your audio experience. It is compatible with a Samsung soundbar that features a Q-Symphony system.

How I Test the Best Samsung TVs?

All the Samsung TV reviews are based on our hands-on experience with the TV. I have personally purchased all the models of Samsung TV to check and review them properly.

I perform a series of tests to see if the TV performs best in all environments. Here is a list of tests I perform beyond specifications to ensure it meets the user’s expectations.

How I Test the Best Samsung TVs

1. Build Quality and Specifications

The first thing I do after setting up the TV is look for visual appeal and build quality. I look and feel the material the frame and bezel are made up of, also check how reflective the display is and how it aesthetically matches the room décor.

I also look at the base, how strong it is, and how aesthetically it is placed. Also, test all the specifications, like the HDMI ports, USB ports, etc., to check if they comply. We also check for compatibility for various mentioned input specifications.

The first thing I do is input all data to access the various online streaming platforms. Here I get a clear picture of how easy or tedious the setup process is. I also connect the TV to the LAN and see if it is done.

Then I start testing the TV on various capabilities using the same set of videos that I always use. I keep the TV in the pre-set modes and start the testing. When I calibrate the TV, I start noting down the results I get.

2. Testing Environment

I test the TV in both bright light and dark room settings. Initially, I did the testing in a dark room for several reasons. Many of us like to watch movies in a dark setting, which eliminates the ambient light. If there is no light hitting the TV screens, the differences in image quality can be easily spotted.

Then, I move the TV to a room naturally lit by many windows since this is the natural environment of our homes. Since light cannot be controlled here, I test how the TV performs in such a scenario.

3. Calibration

I do not measure the TV with specialized lab equipment. Instead, I only calibrate as the end-user would do. First, I disable all the image-correction processors.

Then I fold the processors back in to note any significant changes in the quality of the image. I note how many changes were needed to the pre-set options to reach the desired level of performance.

4. Picture Quality

After the calibrations, I perform a broad range of tests to test the image quality and make subjective observations. I observe factors such as motion blur, motion judder, visual artifacts, brightness, blackness, and color saturation.

Then I move it to a bright room to check how the brightness and contrast hold up in this natural light setting. I test the picture quality in a few categories:

  • TV and Movies
  • Gaming
  • Dark Vs. Bright light
  • Off-angle viewing

I tested all the picture mode settings in each category and mentioned them in our review. The best setting that brings out the best image quality in each category is also listed.

5. Audio Quality

I test the TV’s built-in audio system for various audio like music, action sequences, etc. I plug in an external audio system like a Soundbar or Home Theater to check for quality.

The TV’s performance with built-in and external audio systems is noted down.

6. Menu Navigation

I also check the smart User Interface of each TV. Since the number of features and functionality is growing, the ease of access to these menus is equally important.

I have also checked the menu for easy navigation and fast response times. The menus and options should be intuitive and simple to use.

7. Network Media Access

Many platforms offer music, video, and game streaming on TVs, but how these apps are designed for this TV makes all the difference. I use these apps and compare their performance on other TVs and consoles. These apps should be easy to search and have a good response time.

8. Accessories

The TV comes with many accessories like the Remote Control. I also check them for ease of use and functionality. The layout of the buttons is also important. I check for “hot keys” for frequently used media apps.

9. Overview

After all these tests are done and performance noted, I compare them with other aspects like price and availability. I also compare them with our competitors to see who scores better in the same arena.

Are Samsung 8K TVs Worth Buying?

Whether Samsung 8K TVs are worth buying depends on several factors. According to a different study article, 8K TVs debuted in 2019 and dominated the floor at CES 2020.

All major panel manufacturers, including Samsung, produce them. However, fledgling technology is expensive because the economy of scale isn’t there, and it’s hard to minimize costs when your primary customers are early adopters.

Therefore, according to a research article, even the most affordable 8K TVs are priced as premium products. Moreover, currently, there is a lack of true 8K content available. Upscaling from lower resolutions may not always result in a noticeable improvement in picture quality, as noted in various studies.

However, 8K TVs will get cheaper and perhaps be worth considering in the next few years. Therefore, it may be worth waiting for the prices to come down and for more 8K content to become available before deciding to buy a Samsung 8K TV.
